Residing in an Assisted Living Community

Top Career Options At Senior Assisted Living Centers

If you have a passion for supporting the quality of life of senior individuals, senior assisted living facility careers may be the perfect fit for you. While senior living facilities do not offer the extensive level of services offered by nursing homes, these facilities do still require quite a few staff members to make the care model work for the senior residents. Check out a few of the most preferred career options that may be available at an assisted living center near you.

Senior Events Coordinator

One reason senior living centers are a preference for a lot of senior citizens and their family members is the facilities usually host a lot of events to keep residents active and social. If you have a work history in events planning and coordination or simply working with seniors, you may be a good candidate for a role as a senior events coordinator. This individual is the primary planner for events that take place at the facility to keep everyone entertained. For example, you may be in charge of making arrangements for holiday events, special outings, or social gatherings.

Housekeeping Staff Member

Individuals that move into an assisted living facility typically face some minimal challenges with handling day-to-day activities. Therefore, housekeeping is usually provided by the facility. As a housekeeper at a senior living center, you will likely visit the living quarters of each resident to handle ongoing cleaning. For example, you may visit a resident to help them make their bed, clean the floors, and gather their laundry for washing.

Assisted Living Administration

People who work in administration at an assisted living facility handle the business side of operating the facility, which can be a profound endeavor with a lot of different tasks. For example, people in the administration office may handle things like resident billing, marketing, resident intake, facility operations budgeting and analysis, and more.

Nutrition and Food Services Staff

Most assisted living facilities have on-site dining options, including a cafeteria or dining room where residents can have a meal. However, most also offer a well-rounded meal plan that involves serving meals to residents in their rooms. Therefore, the facilities often need a full staff of individuals to work in the kitchen preparing meals, trained professionals for meal planning, and even waitstaff to carry meals to residents or wait on residents that choose to eat in the cafeteria. If you are familiar with food service or have a background in nutritional planning for seniors, you may be a good fit for these positions.

About Me

Residing In An Assisted Living Community

Hi there, my name is Jolene Pickles. Welcome to my website about assisted living communities. My grandparents eventually reached a stage where they were not safe living in their family home. To help them retain their independence while living in a safer environment, we toured all of the assisted living communities to find the perfect dwelling. They were very happy in the community due to the support and entertainment services offered there. On my site, I will explore the benefits of living in an assisted living community once it is unsafe to live at home. Please feel free to visit my site daily to learn more.
